After an apparent falling out with fellow Argentine Mauro Icardi, Lionel Messi is said to want Paris Saint-Germain to trade him. After Barcelona failed to offer him a new deal, Messi joined PSG as a free agent this summer. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has three Champions League goals to his name but has yet to score in Ligue One.

El Nacional has alleged that Messi and Icardi have a “tense” relationship and that Messi wants Icardi sold. According to the article, the issue is causing a schism in Mauricio Pochettino’s dressing room.

According to the story, Icardi believes Messi is to blame for his three-year absence from the Argentine national squad. Icardi has also been linked with a move away from PSG, with a potential swap with Barcelona in return for Sergio Aguero, Messi’s long-time teammate.

Aguero departed Manchester City earlier this summer to join Barcelona, where he would be able to play alongside his good friend, Lionel Messi, at club level. Messi’s move to PSG, though, threw a kink in Aguero’s plans, and he is now rumored to be dissatisfied at Barca.

Icardi last played for Argentina in 2018, when the team had a plethora of strikers to choose from, including Sergio Aguero, Lautaro Martinez, Paulo Dybala, and Nicolas Gonzalez.

Despite making his PSG debut on August 29, when he was substituted in the second half of a 2–0 away win over Reims in a Ligue 1 match, Lionel Messi took nearly a month to score his first goal. During PSG’s 2–0 UEFA Champions League group stage triumph over Premier League title-holders Manchester City, Messi scored his first goal in PSG colors.

He then scored a game-winning brace against RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga in a UCL match at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris earlier this week, helping PSG to a 3-2 victory.
