Renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano interviewed the agent of new Manchester City signing Kayky, Frederico Moraes about the youngster’s transfer from Brazil to England as a teenager.
“I am delighted with the facilities, they are huge. I also want to thank everyone who has welcomed me. I am being treated very well here by my teammates,” Kayky said after being introduced as a City player. The Sky Blues presented him as a new player for the club last week, and he will have to fight his way into the first team with all the talent ahead of him in the pecking order.
Kayky was open to a move to Manchester City when he first became aware of their interest. The deal was finalised in January when the Brazilian season ended, and after six months, we now see the youngster holding up the City shirt in England.
Fluminense and Manchester City share a very good working relationship, and both parties were keen on the transfer. According to Moraes, City worked fast to finalise the transfer with Fluminense. The reported fee fort the player is around £9 million.
The board members were in contact with the agent regarding the move, and were initially contacted through a representative of the club who laid out the project for the potential signing. Kayky confessed that he would be willing to play for the U23s before being given a chance in the first team.
While Moraes and Kayky did not speak to Pep Guardiola himself, he was always involved in the transfer decision. The 18-year-old now has the backing of Brazil legend Rivaldo to succeed in the world’s best league, in the next few years.
