Mining on gaming GPUs had been the most lucrative job for miners for quite some time now and if it’s an NVIDIA GPU then you are all good to make some good profit in few days. However, the graphics giant had to take some steps to stop its gaming GPUs from being used in the mining market like hotcakes so introduced the Light Hash Rate algorithm on its new GPUs.

Then to opportunitize this, NVIDIA also launched its official Cryptomining cards but before that NVIDIA might have made a plan to launch its flagship RTX 3080 Ti card with 20GB GDDR6X memory rather than the 12GB you see on the normal one. In late August Videocardz received photographs of a Gigabyte AORUS graphics card with 20GB memory.

Interestingly, these cards were exclusively sold in St. Petersburg in Russia and a Russian YouTuber КОЛЯ МАЙНЕР, got access to these cards. In the video he made, he got remote access to the GPU that was installed at the retailer’s warehouse.

As NVIDIA might have cancelled launching the card, the game ready drivers aren’t available for the GPU, making it the only option for mining. The BIOSof this weird yet exciting 20GB model of RTX 3080 Ti GPU was shared via TechPowerUP GPU-Z software.

Now, there seem to be at least three Gigabyte models out in the wild with 20GB memory: Gaming OC (which the YouTuber tested), Aorus Xtreme, and Aorus Master. What’s interesting about this card is it is not equipped with Lite Hash Rate (LHR) algorithm, so this card could be a dream for miners indeed.

The GPU seems preconfigured on-site by the retailers to operate at +100 MHz on the core and +1000 MHz on the memory while being power limited to 80% of its TDP.  The YouTuber also tested various crypto algorithms and the most successful results were from Ethereum mining using either Gminer or NBminer.

In either of the mining software, the GPU offers a staggering 94 MH/s hash rate, which is nearly 64% higher than the regular RTX 3080 Ti 12GB. The store in fact provided a screenshot showing even 97.79 MH/s hash rate, however, the YouTuber wasn’t able to achieve this maybe because he was also streaming on the same PC also.

In terms of price, the GAMING OC model of this weird but powerful RTX 3080 Ti card with 20GB GDDR6X memory was 225,000 rubles or around 3,070 USD. So, it will take more than 400 days for this card to return back the original money spent on it, still, it is a lucrative GPU which miners will crave for.
