Call of Duty Vanguard is the current upcoming latest installation in the Call of Duty franchise and its Alpha was recently available to be played on PlayStation consoles. This brief playtime offered us the first actual look at the game after months of waiting.
Here’s where things might be a little harder to predict than you might think – while there are a few things we can be certain of when it comes to a COD game, there are still some real variables.
The gameplay showed us many interesting things about the story of the new installment. From what we know so far, we can tell that the game will be a first-person shooter with quick time-to-kill and twitchy gameplay. Also that it’ll come with a relatively short however a bombastic campaign, alongside a multiplayer component.
Coming to the single-player story, it will follow a group of soldiers across different World War II fronts, charting the birth of special forces units. The multiplayer mode, on the other hand, will launch with 20 maps, one of the biggest ever servings of locations for a COD game at launch.
Another interesting factor is that the new installment will also follow a What if? Approach asking questions about the events which took place, then what implications will they have on the history.
Vanguard will center on four locations and the soldiers will be fighting across the War’s key battlefields that will be on the Eastern Front, Western Front, Pacific, and North Africa.
A new video was uploaded on the internet that compares the Alpha running on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 4 Pro, confirming all three versions of the game use reconstruction rendering to scale the resolution.
it is an Alpha and this data may vary in later versions or updates.
– All Call of Duty Vanguard versions use reconstruction rendering to scale the resolution.
– Better textures, draw distance, and anisotropic filtering on PS5.
– PS4 and PS4 Pro do not have dynamic shadows. Some static shadows have also been removed.
– PS5 has extra reflections on some specific materials, but it is not ray-traced.
– On PS5 there is a considerably better treatment of depth of field. On the other hand, PS4 Pro has problems with this setting.
