In the desktop market, AMD has been a dominant player in terms of CPU sales, and so naturally, its AM4 motherboards are always in high demand. So, these days OEMs prioritize AMD motherboards as they indeed sell more, and this is why PC manufacturer EVGA is also now selling AMD motherboards.
While its first one is not an AM4 socket motherboard but the brand new X570S chipset motherboard, this enthusiast-class motherboard based on AMD’s AM4 socket has been shown by Vince Lucido “Kingpin”, called the EVGA X570S Dark motherboard.
It has a 270 degree rotated socket paired with two memory slots (1 DIMM per channel); this is quite strange as most X570 motherboards come with 4 memory slots. The motherboard comes with an optimal configuration for extreme overclocking.
It features angled power connectors and onboard buttons for power and reset, which does help a lot if you are an enthusiast who likes to use it for open usage and a POST code display is also present. This EVGA’s premium offering has two PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 slots and a single M.2 NVMe slot attached to the PCIe Gen4 interface.
Though Vince only mentioned the X570 chipset, EVGA’s Product Manager, Jacob Freeman, confirmed this board is based on the new X570S chipset, which means that the board is passively cooled. However, EVGA has not provided detailed specifications or pricing & availability of this motherboard.
