Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is not leaving the club this summer, as he spoke to DAZN about the future of the Portuguese forward.
“We mustn’t try to create sensational stories where there aren’t any. It was a decision shared with the player. At the start of the season, naturally he is not at top fitness.
“I can absolutely confirm Ronaldo will remain at Juventus this season,” Nedved said.
Although Ronaldo started on the bench against Udinese, Juventus have no plans of letting the player leave this term. Juventus have received no bids for him and he is 100% staying in Turin until 2022. The player only has one year remaining on his contract with the Serie A club, and could leave as a free agent next year.
However, he has not been offered or agreed to a renewal with the Turin club yet. According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the player wants to leave the club and it was a request from Ronaldo to start on the bench so that he can try to leave the club in the week that remains. However, it might be difficult for any club to afford his wages this late into the window.
PSG have been linked with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s signature next year, with Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirming that they have no plans to sign Ronaldo this year. If he does end up staying beyond the end of the transfer window, there’s a very good chance he will end up at PSG next year as a free agent, mainly because they are the only club who can afford him.
