India’s top Supercomputers in 2021

In the past few years, we witness a massive growth in computing. The machines become more accurate, powerful, and power-efficient. If you look at the PC market, will get a fair idea. The performance of personal computers get a massive hike, so imagine about the supercomputers. Obviously, the supercomputers’ rankings will be reordered after every analysis in a certain time gap.

According to the fresh top 500 list of supercomputers across the globe, by top500.org, there are three supercomputers resides in India. The three computers are PARAM Siddhi-AI, Pratyush, and Mihir. Only PARAM Siddhi-AI ranks in the top 100 list, and the rest of the two are in the top 200 list.

Before the details of the three Indian supercomputers, here are some additional info regarding the supercomputers and the top chart. Super Computers got their rank as per the performance. The performance is measured by Rmax, and Rpeak value, where Rmax denotes the maximum performance achieved by the computer and Rpeak denotes its theoretical maximum performance.

The first three positions in the top 500 list are captured by Japan and the United States. The Supercomputer Fugaku at No.1 is in Japan, and Summit along with Sierra are from the United States positioned at No.2 and No.3, respectively. Though China is not in the top 3, it has the highest number of supercomputers in the Top 500 list, 188 in total. The United States has 122 supercomputers from the same list.

Cray is one of the reputed supercomputer manufacturing companies. XC is a series, and 40 is a particular model or combination. There are also XC30 and XC50. These all are massively parallel multiprocessing supercomputers. XC40 consists of Intel Haswell Xeon Processor stored in an air-cooled or liquid-cooled cabinet.
