Apple’s next-year Macs and iPhones will be based on TSMC’s 3nm process nodes

Apple’s next upcoming big device is the iPhone 13, and the launch of the new iPhone is just around the corner. However, even if that is the case, we already hear rumours about the details on the upcoming next-years iPhone Macs.

According to sources, the 2022 iPhone and Macs will boh feature 3nm processors manufactured by TSMC. As we have heard from various rumours, the Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is already gearing to begin mass production of 3nm chips for Apple in the second half of next year.

This new report was first shared over at DigiTimes paywalled preview published today. The report claims that TSMC is on track to mass-produce 3nm chips for the second half of 2022. it also suggests that the 3nm chips will be manufactured for next year’s iPhones and Macs.

TSMC is on track to move its 3nm process technology to volume production in the second half of 2022 for Apple’s devices, either iPhones or Mac computers, according to industry sources.

A few weeks ago, reports came flooding in that TSMC is working to increase its capacity for the mass production of the 3nm chips, but at that time, there were no reports that the 3nm chips will be manufactured for Apple products.

However, the recent report is a clear indication that the new 3nm chips being produced by Apple will cause the products of Cupertino giant to gain a huge leap over its competitors. In just two years, this will be a sudden jump of Apple from 5nm to 3nm process nodes.

There are also rumours that state Apple has booked the entire production capacity of TSMC for its Apple silicon Macs; however, we don’t have any timeline as to when these products will make their debut. The current A14 Bionic chips are based on a 5nm architecture that delivers enhanced performance and better battery life; however, the arrival of 3nm process nodes in Apple’s Bionic chips will change the entire game.
