Romelu Lukaku has completed his medicals as part of the transfer to Chelsea, and the London club expect to announce his signing this week.
A fee worth €115 million has been agreed for the Belgian international, and a contract of 5 years worth €12 million per season has been agreed between the player and his new club.
The move looked unlikely at the beginning of the transfer window with Chelsea going all in for Haaland. However, Borussia Dortmund refused to negotiate with the Blues and they turned back to Inter for their former player. Due to dire financial circumstances, Inter agreed to sell their star striker.
However, it is worth noting that he was happy in Milan and didn’t want to move prior to Inter accepting the bid. Lukaku has stated previously that he has unfinished business at Chelsea, and seven years after leaving, he has the perfect chance to fulfill the proverbial prophecy.
Lukaku’s entourage is currently planning the flight to London to make the move permanent. He could make his debut against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with a debut against Villarreal in the Super Cup a little too close to the arrival of the player to the Bridge.
The Belgian scored 20+ goals in both his seasons with Inter Milan, and is exactly what Chelsea need to realistically challenge for the Premier League title. They create plenty of chances every match, and a world-class penalty box striker like Lukaku could help Thomas Tuchel’s teaam up to the next level.
