IND vs ENG: India Dominate England on all fronts on Day One of the First Test

India has started the Test series against England with a bang as they wiped out the English batting order for 183. Moreover, India ended the day without losing any wicket and ended with a score of 21-0 at stumps

To get into details, England won the toss and elected to bat what looked like a good toss to win. But the decision seemed to backfire as soon as the proceedings started. Because Bumrah provided India with a breakthrough in the first over itself by dismissing Rory Burns for a duck.

Later Crawley got off to a decent start and England had got things under control after losing an early wicket. However, Crawley did not convert his start as he edged one-off the bowling of Siraj to depart for 27.

India struck once again after lunch as Dominic Sibley fell for a trap by Shami as he guided a ball straight into the hands of KL Rahul at short mid-wicket. Consequently, England was in great trouble and was hoping for Root and Johnny Bairstow to bail them out of this mess.

Soon Root and Bairstow built a partnership and it looked like England were on their way towards a gigantic score. Although Shami did not let this partnership get away as he trapped Bairstow plumb for 29 in the 50th over. Thereafter English batsmen fell like pieces of cards as Shami and Bumrah struck in quick succession. As a result, this added a lot of pressure to the captain and he succumbed to this pressure which resulted in his wicket as Shardul Thakur trapped him Lbw in the 58th over.

Root played a valiant knock of 64 runs before departing. Following his wicket, the English tail could not survive the Indian pace attack and bundled up at 183. Bumrah and Shami put the brakes on the English batsmen by taking four and three wickets respectively.

Which team had the advantage after Day one and what should they do to improve going into Day two

Indian openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma started the innings cautiously and made sure that they don’t get out until stumps. In the end, India had a very successful day and they would like to continue this momentum. Therefore the Indian bowling attack dismantled the English batting order. As a result, India will be on top going into day two of the test match.

India can completely run away with this test match if Rohit and Rahul get a good start without losing a wicket during the initial few hours. Moreover, Indian batsmen should not play any careless shots like the English batsmen and wait patiently for loose deliveries.

If India manages to take a substantial first-innings lead then it will be next to impossible for this England to come back in this test match. Therefore day two will determine how this test match plays out.
