Jack Grealish has been linked with a big money move to Manchester City over £100 million, and Aston Villa are willing to do everything in their power to keep him at the club.
According to the Sun, Villa are prepared to offer Grealish a contract worth £200,000 a week to change his mind about Manchester City’s interest. The news comes as a surprise, since he signed a new contract with the club last summer and has a deal running until 2025. Grealish, by far Villa’s best player, is also the highest earner at the club, earning a salary of £120,000 a week right now.
A new contract could be a little too much for the Midlands to dish out, especially considering the financial situation of the globe right now. But, the presence of their skipper could help them back into European tournaments and they are apparently willing to gamble on that option working out. Despite missing out on the majority of the second half of 20/21, the 25-year-old finished with the second-highest number of assists in the league with 12.
Manchester City themselves are in a precarious position, after it was revealed that the Premier League champions cheated the financial fair play rules by overstating their income after bringing in funds from Abu Dhabi. Guardiola and co are in the market for Harry Kane as well, and the England captain will surely not come on the cheap. So, they might have to miss out on both players if drastic steps are taken.
