Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz is set to return to AC Milan on a two-year loan deal, according to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
He further goes on to state that neither the club nor the player considered having a buy option in the contract. While AC Milan wanted to keep the player permanently, it seems like Diaz has different plans for his future with a stint at the Bernabeu potentially too good to turn down.
Diaz impressed strongly in his first season with the Rossoneri, helping them return to the Champions League after a very long time away. He made 39 appearances for the club during his spell out on loan, and scored 7 goals while providing 4 assists.
The Spaniard has a contract with Real Madrid until 2025, and will still have two years left on his deal with the club once he returns from the San Siro. At 21, he still has a lot of experience to acquire, and regular playing time in Italy could help massively in his development into a great attacking midfielder.
Diaz came through the Malaga academy before joining Manchester City’s youth team in 2014. After spending five years in England, he was signed by Los Blancos for €17 million in 2019 in the January transfer window.
Milan continue their impressive performance in the transfer window, having already secured Fikayo Tomori and Sandro Tonali on a permanent deal, and are set to sign Olivier Giroud as well.
