MONSTA X’s Shownu Rests Up: What the Herniated Disc Update Means for Fans

Sometimes the bravest thing an idol can do is slow down. On November 5, STARSHIP Entertainment shared a health update about MONSTA X’s Shownu, and Monbebe everywhere are sending love. Here’s what we know, kept short and clear.

MONSTA X Update

What Happened?

According to the agency, Shownu visited the hospital recently because of back pain and underwent a thorough medical exam. The result was a diagnosis of a herniated disc, a spinal condition. Because of his health, he’ll step back from upcoming events so he can rest and focus on recovery.

Which Events He’ll Miss?

Two scheduled activities are affected:

• MONSTA X EP [The Phase] Fan Event in Beijing
• 2026 Korea Grand Music Awards (KGMA)

Hyungwon and some of the other members will still attend KGMA. However, MONSTA X won’t be performing at the ceremony.

What About Fan Sign and Photo Sessions?

Details about Shownu’s video call fan sign and 1:1 photo session, part of the Beijing fan event, will be announced separately later. For any other upcoming schedules, his participation will depend on how his recovery goes. STARSHIP says it will post a separate notice if anything changes.

A Note From the Agency

STARSHIP apologized for any worry the news may cause and said it will do its best to make sure Shownu gets the rest he needs. It also asked fans for their understanding and continued support. How Fans Can Help?

Be patient, avoid guessing about his condition, and wait for official announcements. A herniated disc is a common spinal issue, and rest is often part of recovery, so a break is a healthy choice. For more K-pop news, keep exploring Technosports.
