Wavve: A Vampire Walks Into Class, and the Class President Has to Keep Her Secret

Imagine your homeroom teacher asks you to look after the new transfer student. Now imagine she is a vampire from Romania. That is the chaotic setup of Next Seat, Francesca (literal title), and K-drama fans are already curious.

On October 20, Wavve confirmed that the new original drama premieres on November 6.

Wavve: Next Seat, Francesca

The Story: A Vampire Disguised as a Student

The drama is a spin-off that expands the universe of the hit 2005 MBC sitcom Hello, Francesca. It keeps the original’s quirky idea of vampires living among humans, but moves the action to a high school and turns it into a teen romance.

Han Su A plays Pi Na Young, a vampire who struggles to fit into the human world after transferring from Romania. Her Korean name is a playful twist on the word for “bleeding.”

Kim Hyun Jin plays Jang Woo Joo, an exemplary class president who dreams of attending medical school. His homeroom teacher asks him to help the new student settle in. That one favour turns his everyday life upside down.

What the Teaser Reveals?

The first teaser is funny and a little mysterious. A butler, played by comedian Yoo Young Woo, urgently pleads, “Miss Francesca, please go to school!” Meanwhile, math instructor Chung Seung Je appears as the homeroom teacher who pairs the two leads.

Then comes the warning. Another vampire, Yoo Hyeol (Lee Seung Gyu), tells Pi Na Young not to get too deeply involved with humans. Of course, the teaser hints she won’t listen, and the two leads grow closer. That sets up a forbidden vampire-human romance.

The new poster adds to the mystery. Pi Na Young stands against a purple backdrop with a finger pressed to her lips, as if asking viewers to keep her secret. The tagline reads, “A vampire disguised as an ordinary human appears at school.”

Why It’s Worth Watching?

First, the fresh pairing of Han Su A and Kim Hyun Jin should spark good chemistry. Second, the compact four-episode format means no filler, which suits a binge-friendly weekend. Third, fans of the original sitcom get a nostalgic reboot with a modern teen-romance twist.
