Between Steps: Falling in Love Is Easy, Staying There Is the Hard Part

The first kiss is magical. The first disagreement is where a real love story begins. Between Steps has just shared stills that prove the honeymoon phase is already ending for its newest couple.

What Is Between Steps About?

This romance drama is the work of the late director Ahn Pan Seok, who helmed Something in the Rain, One Spring Night and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon. It tells the love story of Park Min Jae (Choo Young Woo), a former swimmer who lost his right leg to illness, and Im Yoo Jin (Kim So Hyun), a graduate student who finds a new path after losing her way.

Trouble Already?

In the previous episode, the pair officially began dating. But the new stills tell a different story. They sit in a serious, chilly conversation. Yoo Jin looks frustrated, while Min Jae stares at her as though he can’t quite understand her.

Then there is the meeting with Min Jae’s mother. Hong Eun Joo greets Yoo Jin with an elegant, warm smile, yet Yoo Jin looks stiff and uneasy. It’s the kind of awkward first encounter many viewers will recognize, and it leaves a big question about what it means for the couple.

Real Love, Real Clashes

The production team says the young couple will clash as they face unexpected challenges amid the excitement of new love. They promise realistic relationship stories that anyone can relate to at least once. That grounded approach is what made the director’s earlier dramas so beloved, and it suggests this one will favor honest emotion over big melodrama.
