3 big announcements regarding the Tokyo Olympics

In the upcoming Olympics all set to be held next month in Tokyo, several big decisions have been taken by the Tokyo Olympics organizing committee.

The first decision being that in this year’s Olympics sale and consumption of alcohol has been completely banned from the marquee event. No spectator will be allowed to bring alcoholic beverages to the sporting venues.

This decision was taken in mind the present situation to ensure safety measures are implemented against the rise of Covid-19 in accordance with the Covid protocols.

The organizing committee stated “the drinking of alcoholic beverages in venues at next month’s games is prohibited as part of measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, no alcoholic beverages are permitted to be brought into venues and they will not be sold either,” regarding this matter.

Another big decision regarding the upcoming Tokyo Olympics is that the ticket holders having a body temperature of 37.5 °C or above or the ticket holders displaying Covid symptoms will not be allowed to enter the Olympic venue premises.

And the other big step taken to ensure safety against the Coronavirus is that the total amount of spectators have been limited to 50% of the original capacity further limited to a maximum 10,000 audience limit. To decide which ticket holders will be allowed to spectate the Olympics a lottery will be conducted after which only 50% of the tickets will be deemed valid at random.

Further on, the option of conducting the Tokyo Olympics behind closed doors is also being kept on hold and if the situation worsens the following option will be implemented to ensure the safety of the mass.

With only 1 month remaining before the start of the Tokyo Olympics, athletes have begun to land in Japan to join in the training camps organized by their respective nations with the help of the organizing committee.

Since this is the first time such a unique situation has arisen in the history of the Olympics, strong measures have been implemented to ensure that the marquee event is conducted safely and the public have been informed regarding all the rules implemented for the duration of the tournament.

The athlete’s village will be officially open from the 13th of July and the Tokyo Olympics will begin from 23rd July where a total of 11,000 athletes will be participating in 33 different sports on an international level till the 8th of August.
