Tottenham in a Mess as Managerial talks with Gattuso Fall apart

It has been 2 months since Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho. The London side has failed to appoint a new boss since. Spurs have continuously been working on one target after the other but it has all ended in disappointment.

Who all have been offered the job?

Julian Nagelsmann, who was previously coaching RB Leipzig was the first target. Nagelsmann ended up choosing German champions Bayern Munich. Spurs then tried to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to the club from PSG, but the French capital was not in a mood to let Poch go. A chase after Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag also ended to be futile.

The next target was former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte. Conte had just ended a season with Inter guiding them their first Scudetto since 2010. Even after advanced talks, Spurs could not get the deal over the line. This was because chairman Daniel Levy and Conte didn’t agree on their visions for the club’s direction.

Spurs again turned towards available options and this time it was former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca. The Portuguese coach had been followed by Mourinho as his successor, and it would have been a healthy swap of jobs. Talks advanced but again nothing fruitful came out of it.

There were sudden revelations of several tax laws which Fonseca hadn’t foreseen. He asked Spurs for a raise to suffice for the additional talks but the London club failed to agree to his updated terms. He had allegedly gone as far as discussing potential signings for the summer transfer window. Now that’s a bummer!

Tottenham are not planning to re-consider Paulo Fonseca or Gennaro Gattuso as candidates in the next hours – both deals 100% off, same for Pochettino who’s considered “untouchable” by Paris Saint-Germain since May. ⚪️ #THFC

Latest Update

The latest deal that fell apart was of Gennaro Gattuso. Just yesterday everything seemed hopeful and today there’s no more possibility. Gattuso’s move was off after widespread opposition from the Spurs faithful. This was because he has long been considered a villain at the club due to his actions in a Champions League fixture long back. Currently, former Tottenham player Jurgen Klinsmann has claimed that he is in talks with the club, but it’s yet to be materialized.
