The Hanuman Ansh Agra jail screening on Friday, September 4, 2026, swapped red carpets for a prison courtyard. The film’s team put on a special show for inmates at the Agra Central Jail. Most promo tours chase multiplexes and mall appearances. This one went somewhere else entirely, and that choice says plenty about the movie’s journey so far.

A few production details floating around — reports linking filmmaker Anil Sharma to the director’s chair, Sunny Deol in the lead, Zee Studios producing, an August 15, 2025 theatrical release, and Netflix picking up digital streaming rights — come from industry chatter. The makers haven’t officially confirmed any of it. What’s confirmed is the screening itself, and the goodwill it’s already generated.

Hanuman Ansh Agra: Inside The Agra Jail Screening

The special screening happened inside the Agra jail premises, with the film’s team on hand to host the show. For a facility that rarely sees film units, the event stood out as a genuine outreach move.

Inmates got a full theatrical-style experience. The devotional and emotional beats landed in a setting far removed from any commercial cinema hall. Film trade watchers have long argued that a movie’s real test is how it travels beyond its target audience. A jail screening pushes that test to its limit.

No opening-day pressures. No star fan clubs. No social media campaigns. Just viewers reacting to the story on its own terms.

From August 2025 Release To ₹45 Crore Run

The road to this screening started more than a year earlier. The film hit theatres across India on August 15, 2025, per trade reports, and slowly gathered steam through word of mouth rather than a massive marketing blitz. As we tracked in our earlier coverage of Hanuman Ansh: The Small film that quietly found its audience, the movie’s rise never depended on opening-day fireworks.

Hanuman Ansh grossed approximately ₹45 crore at the domestic box office during its 2025 theatrical run.

That domestic gross of around ₹45 crore put the film firmly in sleeper-hit territory — a trajectory we examined in Hanuman Ansh Box Office: the sleeper success that outlasted bigger releases. Zee Studios’ backing gave it reach, but the staying power came from audiences who kept coming back through the theatrical window. Behind the camera, the journey was equally unglamorous, a path we traced in Hanuman Ansh: From Assistant beginnings to a finished feature.

Netflix, Streaming And What Comes Next

After the theatrical run, digital streaming rights moved to Netflix, giving the film a second life beyond cinema halls. That opened it up to viewers who missed it in theatres or found it through recommendations.

Here’s the thing: that extended reach makes the Agra jail screening feel like a natural next chapter, not a one-off stunt. The bigger question is whether other production houses will follow this template.

Outreach screenings cost little, generate real goodwill, and connect films with audiences who sit entirely outside the box office economy. If the response inside the Agra jail proves meaningful, expect more teams to treat prisons, schools, and small-town venues as legitimate stops on a film’s extended journey.

Ultimately, the Hanuman Ansh Agra jail screening reframes what success looks like for a ₹45 crore sleeper. It’s not just about tickets sold. It’s about stories delivered to audiences nobody else was competing for. That might be the film’s most lasting achievement.
