Pickle and Pitch: Where India’s Next Big Startup Idea Gets Served, Not Pitched

Boardrooms are getting some competition — literally. At Ideabaaz Startup Fest 2026, founders and investors won’t just be shaking hands over slide decks; they’ll be rallying for points on a pickleball court.

The initiative, called ‘Pickle and Pitch’, is the brainchild of entrepreneur and investor Arjun Vaidya, co-founder of V3 Ventures. After proving popular in Mumbai and Surat, it now makes its Delhi debut on 28 August, 10 AM onwards, at Bharat Mandapam, as part of the five-day Ideabaaz Startup Fest running from 26–30 August 2026.

The idea is simple: swap the stiff formality of pitch meetings for a fast-paced game of pickleball, a sport that’s exploded in popularity worldwide for being easy to pick up and social by nature. On court, hierarchy fades — everyone’s just chasing the same ball. Vaidya says some of his best founder conversations have happened exactly this way, minus the pitch-deck pressure.

Ideabaaz itself is shaping up to be a heavyweight event, expected to host 300+ startups, 150+ investors, and over 150,000 attendees from India’s startup ecosystem. Why It Matters

For founders, informal settings often unlock the conversations formal pitches can’t — genuine curiosity replaces rehearsed answers. For investors, it’s a low-pressure way to spot promising ideas without the theatre of a stage pitch. Jeet Wagh, Founder & CEO of Ideabaaz, frames the fest itself as a platform where ambitious entrepreneurs can finally find the right connections to build and grow. If founder-investor dynamics and India’s startup scene interest you, our ecosystem stories on TechnoSports track these shifts as they happen.

Whether ‘Pickle and Pitch’ becomes a fixture at future startup fests remains to be seen — but for now, it’s a refreshing reminder that some of the best deals might just start with a serve.
