India finally found a stable middle order prior to the World Cup 2019.

India’s middle-order comes through in comfortable win over Bangladesh.

KL Rahul’s stylish hundred at No 4 and a throwback to Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s days of yore were the big gains for India. India won by 95-runs over Bangladesh in the second World Cup warm-up game.

Rahul looked solid from the beginning and found the gaps with ease, hitting 12 boundaries and four sixes.

Kl Rahul took the attack back to the opposition after early dismissals. Rahul scored 108 runs of 99 deliveries. He along with Dhoni took charge and took India to a good total.

MS Dhoni’s free-spirited approach also got him a century. Dhoni scored 113 off 78 balls. Dhoni’s innings had eight boundaries and as many as seven sixes.

Their 164-run stand powered India to 359 for 7 against a Bangladesh attack.

For skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri, the biggest satisfaction has to be Rahul’s performance at No 4.

His technique was perfect and the risk-free attacking batting as per Shastri’s lingo was “just what the doctor ordered”.

Rahul and Dhoni had contrasting approaches in their batting, which yielded favourable results for India.

Dhoni used the platform created by Rahul to launch a brutal assault in the final overs to take the score past 350.

With the composed Dhoni dealing with the singles and the occasional boundary, Rahul was in his flowing self during his stay at the crease.

Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Kohli make India’s top-three among the most formidable in one-day cricket. If one of them gets a century or two of them put together a strong partnership, they tend to put India in a strong position — batting first or second.

The stable batting order decreases pressure off the top three batsman. India is now a compact team. With the middle order getting runs, it increases India’s strength to a great extent.
