Netflix’s Fall 2026 Movie Slate Is Stacked With Tyler Perry Sequels, and a Career-Defining Brad Bird Passion Project

Fall has always been Netflix’s power move season, and 2026 is no exception. From Tyler Perry’s double comeback to a surprise Tarantino-scripted sequel directed by David Fincher, here’s a compact breakdown of the biggest movies landing on the platform through the rest of the year.

Netflix’s Big Comebacks

Why Did I Get Married Again? (September 9) brings Tyler Perry’s beloved franchise back after 16 years, reuniting Taraji P. Henson, Jill Scott, and the original cast as their now-grown kids prepare to repeat their parents’ mistakes.

Call My Agent! The Movie (September 10) revives the hit French dramedy in feature form, following Andréa Martel’s chaotic first attempt at directing a film.

Doing Life (October 2) is Perry’s second Fall release, trading comedy for a gritty urban drama about a single mother and a reformed ex-convict forging an unlikely bond.

Prestige and Awards Contenders

Animals (October 9) marks Ben Affleck’s directorial return with a political kidnapping thriller starring Gillian Anderson and Kerry Washington.

Possible Love (November 6) is legendary Korean director Lee Chang-dong’s first film since Burning, already selected for Venice’s main competition.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth (December 23) reunites Brad Pitt with the Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood universe, this time scripted by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher — a genuinely unusual pairing worth watching closely, something we’ll be tracking in our awards season coverage on Technosports.

Ink (January 8, 2027) opens the Venice Film Festival and stars Guy Pearce as a young Rupert Murdoch building his tabloid empire — a name whose media influence has been documented extensively on Wikipedia.

Animation and Family Highlights

Steps (November 20) reimagines Cinderella from the stepsisters’ point of view, led by Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu.

Ray Gunn (December 18) is Brad Bird’s decades-long passion project, a retro-futuristic sci-fi noir voiced by Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson.

In Waves (December 11) is a French-Belgian animated tearjerker about young love and illness, based on AJ Dungo’s acclaimed graphic novel.

Don’t Forget the Christmas Slate

Netflix is also loading up on holiday films, including A Dog’s Perfect Christmas, Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas, the rom-com Guarding Stars, and time-loop fantasy In a Holidaze — perfect additions to your December watchlist.

Why This Lineup Matters

This Fall proves Netflix isn’t just chasing algorithm-friendly content anymore — it’s actively courting awards buzz while still delivering crowd-pleasing comfort watches. That dual strategy is exactly why the platform keeps dominating conversation every quarter, a trend we regularly unpack in our streaming industry coverage on Technosports.
