Six Resident Evil Movies Are Landing On Netflix — Perfectly Timed Before The Reboot Hits Theaters

Raccoon City is calling again. Ahead of Zach Cregger’s brand-new theatrical reboot, Netflix US is dropping a hefty chunk of the “Resident Evil” movie universe on September 1, 2026 — enough zombie chaos to hold fans over until the big screen return.

What’s Arriving On September 1?

What’s Missing From The Collection

Licensing rarely delivers a full franchise in one go, and this drop is no exception. Missing titles include the original 2002 “Resident Evil,” the Nemesis-focused “Apocalypse” (2004), franchise closer “The Final Chapter” (2016), the 2021 reboot “Welcome to Raccoon City,” and the first animated film, “Degeneration” (2008). Completionists will need to hunt across other platforms to fill those gaps.

Resident Evil: Netflix’s Existing Resident Evil Titles

Fans don’t have to wait until September to start binging. Netflix already streams its own live-action series, “Resident Evil” (2022), following Jade Wesker across two timelines — though the show was cancelled after one season. Also available now is “Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness” (2021), a four-part animated series reuniting Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield to unravel a conspiracy tied to a cyberattack on the White House.

Why This Drop Is Smart Timing

Zach Cregger, the director behind Barbarian and Weapons, brings his new “Resident Evil” reboot to theaters on September 18, with a Netflix arrival expected later this year via Sony’s Pay-1 window. Loading up the platform with six legacy films right before that release gives Sony a built-in marketing push — turning existing library titles into a runway for its next big theatrical bet.
