Superheroes don’t just save the world on screen — in India, they’ve been rewriting box office history for over two decades. Spider-Man: Brand New Day just delivered the biggest Hollywood opening day ever recorded in India, raking in Rs. 73 crore on Day 1 and dethroning Avengers: Endgame, which had held the crown for seven long years.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day- The Web-Slinger’s Unstoppable Reign
Here’s the wild part — this isn’t Spidey’s first rodeo. Counting his solo films plus his star turns in the two Avengers blockbusters, the friendly neighborhood superhero now holds 8 out of 12 all-time Hollywood opening-day records in India since 2002.
| Rank | Movie | Year | Day 1 Collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Spider-Man | 2002 | Rs. 2.00 crore |
| 5 | Spider-Man 3 | 2007 | Rs. 6.75 crore |
| 7 | The Amazing Spider-Man | 2012 | Rs. 10.00 crore |
| 10 | Avengers: Infinity War | 2018 | Rs. 41.00 crore |
| 11 | Avengers: Endgame | 2019 | Rs. 65.00 crore |
| 12 | Spider-Man: Brand New Day | 2026 | Rs. 73.00 crore |
Only a handful of non-superhero films — King Kong, Casino Royale, 2012, and Furious 7 — ever managed to break into this exclusive club, proving just how much Indian audiences gravitate toward the superhero genre.
What’s Next?
Before Marvel’s dominance took over, Spider-Man was the undisputed king of Hollywood IP in India. With Avengers: Doomsday slated for later this year, the battle for the next big record is already heating up. It’s a reminder of just how deeply the superhero film genre has embedded itself into global — and Indian — pop culture.

Bottom Line
From a modest Rs. 2 crore opening in 2002 to a massive Rs. 73 crore in 2026, Spider-Man’s journey mirrors India’s growing love affair with Hollywood spectacle. The next big question: can anyone dethrone him again?
