Horror fans in India showed up in decent numbers for the latest installment of the “Evil Dead” franchise. Directed by Sebastian Vanicek, “Evil Dead Burn” kicked off its Indian run with Rs. 4 crore gross, including paid previews — a solid start for a franchise that’s built its Indian fanbase primarily in the South.

Evil Dead Burn: Day-Wise Collection Breakdown

The film pulled in around Rs. 75 lakh from previews before adding Rs. 3.25 crore on its official Friday opening. Unsurprisingly, South India — traditionally the strongest market for Hollywood releases — powered much of this early momentum.

Day	Box Office (India)
Previews	Rs. 0.75 crore
Day 1	Rs. 3.25 crore
Total	Rs. 4.00 crore

What’s the Weekend Outlook?

Based on current trends, “Evil Dead Burn” is tracking toward a first-weekend total of Rs. 13 to 15 crore nett in India. For context, the previous installment in the franchise opened with Rs. 10.75 crore over its debut weekend and went on to collect nearly Rs. 39 crore gross in its complete theatrical run — a benchmark this new entry appears well-positioned to match.

Hollywood’s Winning Streak in India

2026 has been a surprisingly strong year for Hollywood at the Indian box office, with several non-franchise titles like Project Hail Mary and Obsession outperforming expectations. However, not every release has kept pace — Toy Story 5, Supergirl, and Moana have all struggled to hold momentum. All eyes now turn to Minions & Monsters and “Evil Dead Burn” to see if the horror franchise can carry that winning streak forward.
