The Deadites are back. “Evil Dead Burn,” the newest chapter in the long-running supernatural horror franchise, hit theatres on July 10, 2026, directed by Sébastien Vaniček. And true to franchise tradition, Twitter is split between horror die-hards calling it a triumphant return to form and viewers who found it more gory than genuinely terrifying.

What’s Twitter Saying?

Reactions range from glowing praise to sharp criticism of the storytelling choices.

Reviewer Take	Sentiment	Key Point
User 1	Critical	Called the protagonist passive and cowardly; felt Thya deserved a better arc
User 2	Positive	Ranked it above Evil Dead Rise, close to the 2013 remake; praised direction and visuals
User 3	Very Positive	Called it an exceptional experience from start to finish
User 4	Mixed	Enjoyed it but didn’t find it as scary as hyped; called it intense but not sleep-disrupting

Evil Dead Burn: Story, In Short

The film centers on a family reunion at a secluded lakehouse that spirals into horror after an ancient evil begins possessing family members one by one. As the Deadite curse spreads, Alice must fight to survive while hunting for a way to end the nightmare using the legendary Kandarian Dagger. With chaos closing in, she confronts her possessed relatives in a last, desperate stand.

The cast includes Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Erroll Shand, and Maude Davey.

Franchise fans will know this all traces back to the original 1981 cult classic, whose legacy as one of horror’s most influential Evil Dead franchise entries still shapes how each new installment is judged.

Should You Watch It?

If you love practical gore, relentless pacing, and franchise callbacks, most reactions suggest this one delivers. If you’re chasing genuine scares that linger after the credits roll, some viewers say it leans more intense than frightening.
