Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first player to win Golden Boot in three different leagues

Cristiano Ronaldo capped off yet another stellar individual season as he finished as the top scorer in Serie A, with 29 goals to his name. The 36-year-old is the first Juventus player to finish as the top scorer since Alessandro del Piero in 2007/08.

What’s even more impressive is that he has finished as the top scorer in all three of the top five leagues in Europe that he has played in. Incidentally, 2007/08 was the year that Ronaldo won the Premier League Golden Boot with Manchester United, scoring 31 goals that season.

He went on to win the Pichichi Trophy playing for Real Madrid three times during his spell at the Spanish capital. Ronaldo left the club as the highest ever goalscorer in Madrid history, and already has 100 goals for Juventus, having joined only three years ago.

Ronaldo has also lifted every single domestic cup in every league that he has played in. The Bianconeri won the Coppa Italia this season, defeating Atalanta in the finals and capping off the campaign with Champions League qualification to mark it as moderate success in some way.

There were strong rumours that the Portuguese captain would be leaving Turin at the end of the season. Those, of course, were fuelled by Juventus’ failure to establish a top-four finish earlier in the season. However, those rumours will probably die down now that Juventus have finished in the top four and will compete in the Champions League next season.
