Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 4 Episode 7 Recap: Cops as Killers, Voit’s Mystery Deepens

The BAU just tackled one of its darkest cases yet — corrupt police officers turned murderers. Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 4, Episode 7, titled “The Furies,” premiered on Paramount+ and pushes the show’s ongoing conspiracy storyline further into focus while keeping Elias Voit’s mysterious admirer firmly in the shadows.

What Happens in “The Furies”?

Rossi, Prentiss, JJ, Alvez, Tara, Garcia, and Tyler head to New Mexico to investigate a string of murders that initially appear to be a standard cop-killer case. As the team digs deeper, they uncover evidence suggesting the killings are tied to a corrupt network operating from within law enforcement itself — forcing the profilers to treat the people meant to help them as potential suspects. This kind of institutional-corruption storyline is a familiar staple of the police procedural genre, but the episode leans harder into moral ambiguity than a typical case of the week.

The Voit Mystery Continues

While the New Mexico case dominates the runtime, Elias Voit’s storyline keeps simmering in the background. Still under FBI supervision, Voit receives another cryptic visitor, deepening the ambiguity around who “The Fan” really is and what they want from him. The episode deliberately avoids resolving this thread, instead building momentum toward a larger confrontation expected in the season’s final stretch.

Why This Episode Matters

“The Furies” functions as a calm-before-the-storm chapter, expanding the season’s central conspiracy while keeping the BAU’s confrontation with The Fan just out of reach. With only three episodes left before the season finale, and Paramount+ having already renewed the show for a twentieth season, the stakes are rising without any real risk to the franchise’s future.
