Dark Twitter Review: Should You Book Tickets for Ajay Karthi’s Horror Thriller?

A new Tamil horror thriller is trending online, and early audience reactions suggest it’s worth the theatre trip. Dark, starring Ajay Karthi and directed by Kalyan K. Jegan, hit screens on July 3, 2026, and Twitter is already buzzing with verdicts.

What’s Dark About?

The film follows Vignesh, an atheist and graphic designer whose life turns unsettling after he moves into a new house as a paying guest. As strange, unexplained events unfold, he’s forced to confront experiences that challenge everything he believes — a premise that leans heavily into psychological horror rather than jump-scare theatrics. The cast includes Anchana Nethrun, Natarajan Subramaniam, the late K. Bhagyaraj, and VTV Ganesh.

What Twitter Is Saying

Why It’s Getting Attention

Unlike typical Tamil horror entertainers that lean on comedy or romance, Dark sticks to a slow-burning, atmosphere-driven approach. Much of the story unfolds inside a single house, and reviewers note the cinematography and sound design do heavy lifting to build dread. It’s also being noted as one of the final on-screen appearances of veteran actor-filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj.

Should You Watch It?

If you enjoyed genre entries like Bhoothakaalam or Demonte Colony, early buzz suggests Dark fits that same lane — mystery-driven, mood-heavy, and light on jump scares. It won’t be for everyone, especially those wanting fast-paced commercial horror, but for fans of grounded supernatural thrillers, it’s shaping up as a solid theatrical pick.
