Park Se Young Ditches Her Soft Side in New “Family Register” Stills — And It’s Chilling

Just days before its premiere, MBC’s upcoming daily drama Family Register has dropped a fresh set of stills, and they’re already stirring up curiosity. The reason? Park Se Young’s character is showing a side fans haven’t seen yet — and it looks like trouble.

What’s “Family Register” About?

The Korean drama follows Na Ji Ni, a woman branded from birth as the reason a family fell apart. Born from her parents’ complicated affair, she’s spent her life carrying the cruel label of “the mistress’s daughter.” Despite the emotional weight, she’s quietly built a life for herself as a Korean painting major with real artistic talent — gentle, reserved, and determined to rise above her circumstances.

At least, that’s who she’s been so far.

A Different Na Ji Ni Emerges

The new stills show Na Ji Ni sitting alone in a convenience store late at night, cap low over her eyes, lost in thought. There’s a heaviness to the image — something’s clearly weighing on her. Nearby, a group of high school girls in uniform appear, and their connection to her is left frustratingly (deliciously) unclear.

Then the mood flips entirely. In the next set of images, Na Ji Ni is shown breathing hard, cap thrown off, staring someone down with a hardened, almost defiant expression. It’s a jarring shift from the soft-spoken artist we’ve been introduced to, and it raises a big question: what pushed her to this point?

Why This Matters

Daily dramas often lean on emotional slow-burns, but these stills suggest Family Register isn’t afraid to throw in sharp, unexpected turns early. If this late-night confrontation is any indication, Na Ji Ni’s journey is going to be far messier — and more compelling — than her gentle exterior lets on.
