The Indian limited-overs team will be coached by Rahul Dravid, the former India captain and current head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in a six-match series against Sri Lanka in July. He previously worked as a batting coach for the Indian team during the 2014 England tour.

Since Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun, and Vikram Rathour will be in England with the Test team, the NCA chief will lead the team in Sri Lanka. According to what a BCCI official informed, The Team India coaching staff will be in the United Kingdom. It is best if Dravid leads the young team, as he has already interacted with almost all of India’s ‘A’ players. The warmth he shares with the kids would be an added bonus.

Dravid had collaborated with the latest batch of youth in the Indian team at the U-19 tier and the India ‘A’ squad before taking over as the president of NCA in 2019. In reality, after taking charge of the U-19 and ‘A’ teams in 2015, he is widely regarded as having played a key role in the senior team’s development of a strong bench.

The Indian side for the Sri Lanka series is scheduled to be announced by the end of this month, and the players will be quarantined in Sri Lanka before playing the three ODI and three T20I matches. The three One-Day Internationals will be played on July 13, 16, and 19, while the T20Is will be held from July 22 to 27.

During the time when the young Indian players compete in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, the side led by Virat Kohli will be doing the same in England, preparing for the start of the five-match Test series against England in August 4. This comes after a battle with New Zealand in the World Test Championship final in Southampton, which took place from June 18 to 22.
