Mark Hamill Joins Peacock’s ‘Twisted Metal’ Season 3 as Sweet Tooth’s Father

The post-apocalyptic wasteland of Twisted Metal is gearing up for its most explosive chapter yet. Peacock has officially announced that legendary actor Mark Hamill is joining the cast of Twisted Metal Season 3. Fans of the high-octane, vehicular combat series based on the classic PlayStation video game franchise have been eagerly awaiting news on the third season, and the addition of the beloved Star Wars and Batman voice acting icon is a massive casting coup that promises to elevate the show’s chaotic energy.

The Mastermind Revealed: Mark Hamill as Pope Charlie Kane

While many speculated about who Hamill might play, it has been confirmed that he will step into the recurring role of Pope Charlie Kane. In the lore of the television adaptation, Charlie Kane is the estranged father of the deranged, clown-masked killer Sweet Tooth, and the leader of a powerful faction known as the Eastern Sovereignty.

Fans of the original video game franchise will recognize the name Charlie Kane. In the classic 1995 Twisted Metal game, Charlie Kane is the driver of the Yellow Jacket, a heavily armored taxi cab. The character has evolved throughout the gaming franchise’s history, but bringing him into the live-action Peacock universe as the leader of the Eastern Sovereignty and the father of Sweet Tooth adds a deeply personal and menacing layer to the story.

Anthony Mackie, who stars as John Doe and serves as an executive producer, expressed his excitement about Hamill joining the team. “For Mark Hamill to come into this world with us is amazing,” Mackie shared in a statement. “He’s someone I’ve admired for a long time — a true legend who’s influenced generations of actors. Being able to now call him a castmate is an incredible honor, and we’re excited to see what he brings to the world of Twisted Metal.”

The Expanding Cast of Twisted Metal

Hamill joins a stacked ensemble cast that has made the series one of Peacock’s biggest hits. The series is led by Anthony Mackie as the fast-talking “milkman” John Doe, and Stephanie Beatriz, who plays the resilient survivor Quiet.

Season 3 will continue the brutal demolition derby narrative that escalated in Season 2. The roster of iconic characters from the video game making their live-action appearances continues to grow.

Behind the Scenes: New Showrunner and Massive Success

The casting of Mark Hamill is a testament to the monumental success of Twisted Metal on the Peacock streaming platform. Season 2, which premiered in July 2025, racked up an astonishing 993 million viewing minutes, making it the streamer’s second highest-reaching original returning scripted season. By leaning heavily into the absurdity of the source material while maintaining genuine emotional stakes, the show has become one of Peacock’s flagship original series.

As the series heads into Season 3, there has been a notable shift behind the scenes. David Reed (The Boys, Supernatural) is stepping in as the new showrunner and executive producer, taking over the reins from Michael Jonathan Smith, who successfully steered the first two seasons. Executive producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (of Deadpool fame) remain on board, ensuring the show keeps its signature blend of action and dark comedy.

What to Expect in Season 3

With John Doe and Quiet continuing their fight for survival in a fragmented, post-apocalyptic United States, the introduction of Pope Charlie Kane and the Eastern Sovereignty promises to throw a massive wrench into their plans. As the deadly Twisted Metal tournament orchestrated by Calypso rages on, the impending family reunion between Sweet Tooth and his estranged father is guaranteed to bring fireworks, chaos, and plenty of vehicular destruction.

With production ramping up, fans are eagerly awaiting an official release date for Twisted Metal Season 3. One thing is certain: with Mark Hamill behind the wheel of this new villainous role, the next season is going to be a wild ride.
