No, Mohanlal’s Athimanoharam Is NOT Shut Down — Director Tharun Moorthy Breaks His Silence on Viral Rumours

Rumours travel fast on the internet — and in Malayalam cinema circles, they travel even faster. The latest target? Athimanoharam, the highly anticipated cop-comedy starring Mohanlal, which has been at the centre of false online reports claiming its shoot had been halted due to script issues. Director Tharun Moorthy has now stepped forward to shut down every single one of those claims, and honestly, it’s about time.

Athimanoharam : Everything You Need to Know

What Tharun Moorthy Actually Said

Taking to social media, Tharun Moorthy confirmed that the team had been actively shooting in Thodupuzha for over 78 days and that while monsoon rains had affected certain plans, the crew was pushing through with full enthusiasm. He specifically called out those spreading unverified content for personal reach, warning that such misinformation puts unnecessary pressure on the entire team and creates confusion among fans.

This is a refreshingly direct response — and if you’ve been a fan of Malayalam cinema, you know how damaging false narratives can be for a film’s pre-release buzz. For a deeper look at how Mohanlal has built one of Indian cinema’s most legendary careers, his Wikipedia profile is a fascinating read.

The Story Behind Athimanoharam

The film marks Mohanlal playing a police officer, with the screenplay crafted by Ratheesh Ravi. It also brings back Meera Jasmine in a full-fledged lead role opposite Mohanlal, their first such pairing after she made a brief cameo in Hridayapoorvam. That reunion alone has fans buzzing.

Interestingly, the project was originally announced as L365 with Thallumaala actor Austin Das attached as director. However, creative differences led to his replacement by Tharun Moorthy, who reimagined the project as an entirely fresh film.

This is the second collaboration between Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy — a combination that already has Mollywood excited.

What’s Next for Mohanlal?

Beyond Athimanoharam, Mohanlal has projects such as L367 and a film with Priyadarshan lined up — the latter being the veteran director’s landmark 100th venture. He is also expected to appear in cameos in Jailer 2, Khalifa: Part 1, and his daughter Vismaya Mohanlal’s debut film Thudakkam.

It’s safe to say — Lalettan is absolutely everywhere right now, and we are not complaining! For more on Mohanlal’s upcoming projects and all things South Indian cinema, keep tabs on TechnoSports’ entertainment coverage.
