Real Madrid have reportedly held talks with Luka Jovic and Kalidou Koulibaly over potential summer moves but will have to battle it out against their arch rival Barcelona.
Zinedine Zidane returned to Real Madrid for his second stint as the manager. This move brought a feeling of peace at Real Madrid after they were knocked out of 3 competitions – Copa del Rey, LaLiga and Champions League – in a week. Santiago Solari was sacked after that and Zidane was brought in to restore Real Madrid’s pride. But in the 4 LaLiga matches of his second stint, the results have not been very convincing. Zidane’s side only beat Celta Vigo convincingly. The Huesca and Eibar wins were bleak, while Valencia beat Real Madrid Madrid 2-1.
It’s not sure whether scoring has been a problem for Real Madrid or not because there is even a shortage of chances created. For that reason, Eden Hazard is close to signing for the club. So now Real Madrid’s next objective is to secure the striking and defending positions. They have reportedly held secret negotiations with two Barcelona targets – Luka Jovic and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Luka Jovic has enjoyed a breakthrough season for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. The Serbia international has been on Barcelona’s radar as well but even his personal preference is Real Madrid. Jovic feels that he will get plenty of minutes in Real Madrid and there will be no player having a say in matters at the Santiago Bernabeu. Zinedine Zidane has demanded a striker as Mariano Diaz failed to provide adequate support to Karim Benzema. He has identified Jovic as someone who can contribute now and in the future.
