Deool Band 2 Box Office: Pravin Tarde’s Devotional Comedy Is Quietly Becoming Marathi Cinema’s Biggest Surprise of 2026

While Bollywood’s big releases stumbled this weekend, a heartwarming Marathi sequel is quietly filling up theatres — and the numbers tell an inspiring story.

The Opening Weekend That Has Marathi Cinema Smiling

Deool Band 2, the devotional comedy drama directed by Pravin Tarde, has kicked off its theatrical run with real momentum. The film collected Rs 3 crore gross on Day 1 — a strong start for a Marathi film — and followed it up with an even steadier Rs 3.25–3.50 crore on Day 2, bringing its two-day total to approximately Rs 6.25 crore gross.

With Saturday and Sunday expected to see significant spikes driven by family and devotional audiences, the film is on course to close its opening weekend at around Rs 15 crore — a figure that would firmly place it in blockbuster territory for Marathi cinema.

Why Is Deool Band 2 Working So Well?

The answer lies in a combination of genuine audience love, strong word-of-mouth, and the power of a proven franchise. The original Deool Band, released in 2025, was a significant commercial success for Marathi cinema, and audiences have clearly returned for the sequel with warm intent.

The film stars an impressive ensemble — Mohan Joshi, Snehal Tarde, Mahesh Manjrekar, Pravin Tarde, and Mangesh Desai — and sits comfortably in the devotional comedy film genre that has historically performed extremely well with family audiences across Maharashtra. Films in this space tend to have exceptional legs in their second and third weeks as word spreads through communities, pilgrimage groups, and family networks.

The critical reception has also been largely positive, which is a significant tailwind for a small-to-mid-budget Marathi film that relies heavily on recommendation rather than promotional muscle.

This success is part of a broader upswing for Marathi cinema in 2026. Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam and Raja Shivaji have already emerged as strong performers at the box office this year, and Deool Band 2 looks set to join that proud list. What’s Next for the Film?

The real test comes in the weekdays and the second week. If audience momentum holds — which positive reviews and the devotional genre’s loyal repeat-viewing tendency suggest it might — the film has a genuine shot at a big lifetime total for a Marathi production. A strong second weekend would confirm hit status and potentially set up a third installment in what is shaping up to be a beloved franchise.
