If you’ve been craving a raw, gritty Korean historical action film on Netflix, Dochabi (WT) might just be your next obsession. With a powerhouse lead, a gripping plot set in the Joseon era, and a seasoned director at the helm — this one is already on our radar.

What Is Dochabi (WT)?

Dochabi is an upcoming Netflix Original Korean historical-action film directed by Ahn Tae Jin (The Night Owl) and written by screenwriter Hwang Sung Goo (The King’s Warden). The story is set in the rugged northern borderlands of the Joseon dynasty — one of Korea’s most dramatic and story-rich historical periods.

Dochabi Plot: A Hidden Warrior, a Corrupt Official, and a Fight for Survival

The story follows Tae San, a former military officer living in the mountains in secret. His quiet exile is shattered when a corrupt official, Lee Do Gwan, hatches a sinister plan — disguising slash-and-burn farmers as “barbarians” to hunt them down. Tae San is pulled into the deadly conspiracy, with someone he deeply cares about caught in the crossfire.

It’s the kind of high-stakes, morally charged story that K-drama fans absolutely live for.

Dochabi marks only his second film lead role — and his first in a full-scale historical action production. That alone makes this unmissable.

Production Timeline & Release Date

Filming is scheduled to kick off in August 2026, with production expected to run through the rest of the year. Given that timeline, realistically expect a Netflix release in late 2027 or early 2028. It’s a wait — but for a Joseon-era action epic with this creative team, absolutely worth it.
