Two Oscars. A Grammy. A sequel. Netflix’s most-watched film of all time. And now — a global concert tour. HUNTR/X simply cannot be stopped.
KPop Demon Hunters: The Big Announcement
On May 13, Netflix officially announced its plans for a KPop Demon Hunters global concert tour, described as a “live experience that will bring elements of the two-time Oscar-winning film to life in spectacular ways.” Soompi
Cities, dates, and ticket details are yet to be revealed — but the announcement alone has set the internet ablaze.
Why KPop Demon Hunters Is Such a Cultural Phenomenon
In case you need a reminder of just how massive this film became:
| Milestone | Detail |
|---|---|
| 2026 Oscar: Best Animated Feature | First female Asian winners — directors Maggie Kang & Chris Appelhans |
| 2026 Oscar: Best Original Song | “Golden” — the first K-pop song ever to win an Academy Award |
| 2026 Grammy | Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Golden” |
| Netflix record | Most-watched original animated film AND most-watched English-language film ever |
| Total views | Over 325.1 million views on Netflix |
| Rotten Tomatoes | 95% critics score, 99% audience score |
The film premiered in June 2025 and — after being called “charming, funny, and artfully punchy” by the New York Times — became a global phenomenon, spending 15 consecutive weeks in Netflix’s Top 10, the longest-running title ever on the English-language film chart.
The Story, the Cast & the Songs
The film follows HUNTR/X, a K-pop girl group that spends their nights fighting demons — blending pop stardom with supernatural warfare in a colorful, energetic adventure where catchy songs and demon-slaying go hand in hand. The voice cast is led by Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Lee Byung-hun.
The singing voices of HUNTR/X — EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — performed the chart-topping hit “Golden” at the Oscars ceremony as the audience waved light sticks. EJAE said through tears: “Growing up, people made fun of me for liking K-pop, but now everyone’s singing our song and all the Korean lyrics. I’m so proud.” Pannchoa
