The Big Rebrand Explained
Netflix has quietly rebranded the first season to Berlin and the Jewels of Paris, and the new eight-episode follow-up sits as a wholly separate title on the platform — not a continuation labeled “Season 2.”
Why? It’s a clever audience strategy. New viewers are often intimidated by a “Season 2” badge if they haven’t seen the first. By packaging this as a distinct event series, Netflix can attract brand-new subscribers who want a self-contained heist story without feeling like they have homework to do.
New Heist, Darker Tone
If Jewels of Paris was about romance and the thrill of the steal, Lady with an Ermine is much darker and focused on one thing: revenge.
Berlin and his crew head to the sun-drenched streets of Seville, pulling off a fake heist of Leonardo Da Vinci’s iconic painting, The Lady with an Ermine — as a Trojan horse. The gang is hired by the powerful Duke of Málaga, who then tries to blackmail Berlin. Big mistake. whats-on-netflix
The core Paris crew returns — Michelle Jenner, Begoña Vargas, Julio Peña Fernández, and Joel Sánchez — joined by Inma Cuesta as Candela, a new gang member tipped to steal Berlin’s heart, and José Luis García-Pérez and Marta Nieto as the antagonist Duke and Duchess of Málaga. whats-on-netflix
