OPPO Smart Tag real-life images leaked, tipped to come with UWB

Oppo, the Chinese electronics company, is making a Smart Tag and the images of this new product were leaked recently. This leak confirms that Oppo is following Apple’s and Samsung’s path to launch Smart Tag in the market. Apple recently launched its own object tracker which is called AirTag. This Apple product was supported with UWB (Ultra Wide Band), competing against Samsung Smart Tag.

The leaked images of Oppo Smart Tag are said to be the Engineering Test version of the upcoming product. The device is expected to have the popular feature Ultra Wide Band as this is written on one of the images. The Smart Tag looks to be available in white colour only. We also see a Type-C port at the bottom which tells that this Smart Tag might be more environment-friendly than the rivals. This port was not present in the Air Tag, the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag, and SmartTag+.

Thus, there should be a battery cell inside this device that will require charging. The other Smart Tags discussed above promise a 1-year battery life but do not give the feature to you to charge it. Instead of charging, Apple’s Air Tag offers to replace the CR2032 battery but Oppo’s method is more sound and convenient. Even though Oppo’s Smart Tags has a UWB, we are still unsure if this device has an IP rating, which will protect it from getting damaged.

Basically, Ultra Wide Band or UWB will help the customers by accurately locating the objects which are tagged. It is much more helpful and faster than the technology offered with the Bluetooth-only version. We also don’t spot the lanyard hole which was also absent in the Galaxy Smart Tag.

Oppo is gearing up for a launch event on 6th May in China and we might see the Chinese company launching this Smart Tag with other devices like Oppo K9, Oppo TV and more. This Smart Tag is still not officially launched so let’s see if the leaked images tell the true story or not.
