The Dates Are Set — And So Is a Historic Transition
The 99th Oscars ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2027, while the landmark 100th edition will take place on Sunday, March 5, 2028 — both starting at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT.
Both ceremonies will still be held at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, but these will be the final two years at the Dolby Theatre, as the Oscars are set to relocate to downtown Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater at LA Live — ending a 26-year run at the current venue that began in 2002. The deal with AEG spans 10 years, confirmed on March 26, 2026.
Goodbye ABC, Hello YouTube
This is perhaps the biggest shift of all. Streaming rights for the Oscars have been handed over to YouTube, ending the ceremony’s partnership with ABC after 53 years — having broadcast on the channel since 1976.
The new deal is expected to continue until at least 2033 and includes a free livestream on YouTube, along with red carpet preshow coverage, behind-the-scenes content, nominations announcements, and the Governors Awards. The YouTube transition begins with the 101st ceremony in early 2029, so the 99th and 100th editions will still air on ABC before the handover.
