Every Team’s Logo Story
🔴 Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) — RCB’s original 2008 logo was a bold, almost coat-of-arms style crest with traditional serif lettering. Over the years it has been progressively refined into a sharper, more premium emblem — less ornate, more modern. The red and gold palette has stayed constant, but the logo now feels like a global brand rather than a regional cricket team. The 2025 title has added emotional weight to every badge iteration since.
💜 Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) — The iconic knight-on-horseback silhouette has always been KKR’s identity anchor. The early designs were more detailed and illustrative; the current logo is a cleaner, more geometric interpretation of the same idea — sharper edges, stronger contrast, and a purple-gold palette that feels unmistakably premium. Shah Rukh Khan’s franchise has always had a Bollywood-meets-sport brand energy, and the logo captures it perfectly.
🟡 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) — The leaping lion has been one of IPL’s most consistent and beloved logo elements since 2008. CSK have largely resisted major redesigns — because when something works, you leave it alone. The most significant addition has been the incremental addition of gold stars above the crest as each title came in. In 2026, five stars sit proudly above the lion — a silent, powerful statement of legacy.
🔵 Mumbai Indians (MI) — The “MI” wordmark with stylised blue waves has evolved from a more detailed nautical-themed early design to an exceptionally clean, minimal identity. It now looks at home on a global franchise rather than just a domestic T20 team. Five stars sit on the badge — making it one of the most decorated emblems in the league.
🔶 Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) — Born in 2013 to replace the disbanded Deccan Chargers, SRH started with a relatively modern brief and have leaned into fire and aggression with every update. The current logo’s sunriser silhouette with flaming accents connects directly to their “Play with Fire” brand identity introduced in 2026 — it all coheres beautifully.
🔴 Punjab Kings (PBKS) — Originally Kings XI Punjab, the rebrand to Punjab Kings in 2021 was the most fundamental identity reset of any IPL team outside of Delhi. The old KXIP lion crest gave way to a bold new geometric shield with a modernised lion — signalling a fresh chapter under new leadership.
🔵 Delhi Capitals — Formerly Delhi Daredevils (with devil-horn iconography), the 2019 rebrand to Delhi Capitals was sweeping and ambitious. The angular DC badge is one of the sharpest logo designs in the league today — clean, confident, and modern. The transformation is so complete that the original Daredevils logo feels like a different franchise entirely.
🔵 Gujarat Titans (GT) — The newest major franchise joined in 2022 with a deliberately minimalist titan-helmet logo in navy and gold. It immediately felt premium and intentional — a franchise built for the modern sports branding era. Winning the title in their debut season gave the logo instant emotional resonance.
🩷 Rajasthan Royals (RR) — The RR logo has always drawn on Rajputana royalty — crowns, shields, regal colour palettes of pink and blue. The current version is arguably the most refined iteration, with a cleaner lion graphic and a shield shape that balances heritage with modern design sensibility.
Indian Premier League was founded in 2008 and its franchises have collectively evolved into some of the most recognisable sports brands in Asia — with logo and identity design playing a central role in fan loyalty and commercial growth.
