The Franchise That Defined an Era
The Sarkar film series began in 2005 with RGV’s gritty political drama that introduced Amitabh Bachchan as Subhash Nagre — a powerful patriarch ruling Mumbai’s political underworld from the shadows. The film was critically acclaimed and became a cult classic almost instantly. Sarkar Raj followed with a bigger canvas, weaving Abhishek Bachchan’s character deeper into the narrative.
The third installment arrived in 2017 and since then, fans had been waiting — hoping — for more.
What Makes Sarkar 4 Different?
This isn’t just another sequel. According to reports, RGV is positioning Sarkar 4 as a complete reboot, meaning a fresh story within the same universe rather than a continuation of where Sarkar 3 left off. That’s a bold creative call, and honestly, it’s exciting. It keeps things unpredictable.
What’s particularly special is that Big B and Abhishek are shooting together from Day 1. Their on-screen chemistry as father and son has always been one of the franchise’s biggest emotional anchors — and having that dynamic front and center from the very beginning sets the tone.
Why This Is Big News for Bollywood in 2026
Franchise reboots are having a moment globally, but Sarkar 4 stands out because it reunites two generations of the Bachchan family in a format that genuinely suits both of them. RGV at his best — raw, intense, politically charged cinema — paired with Big B’s gravitas and Abhishek’s grounded screen presence is a combination that could deliver something truly special.
