Han Ji Min’s Dating Strategy in The Practical Guide to Love Is a Mood — 4 Times Ui Yeong’s Plan Spectacularly Backfired!

If you’ve ever made a questionable decision while emotionally spiralling — maybe texting everyone in your contacts at midnight — then Ui Yeong is your character. The Practical Guide to Love Episodes 3 and 4 lean fully into the glorious chaos of its lead, and the result is one of the most genuinely relatable K-drama romcom setups in years.

4 Times Ui Yeong’s Dating Plans Went Hilariously Wrong

1. The Drunk Mass Text That Started Everything

After failed first dates with both Tae Seop and Ji Su, a heartbroken and frustrated Ui Yeong gets drunk and starts texting — she texts everyone in her contacts and asks them to set her up on a blind date. Unsurprisingly, many of her contacts know someone who might be interested, and soon her number is circulating everywhere. Rolling Stone

Most people regret a single drunk text. Ui Yeong managed to bulk-send relationship chaos to her entire address book. Iconic, honestly.

2. Ji Su Crashes — and Ruins — Her Blind Date

Ji Su, who is working as a waiter at the restaurant, overhears the man criticizing Ui Yeong during a phone call. Believing he is doing the right thing, Ji Su confronts him and causes a scene that ultimately ruins the date. From Ui Yeong’s point of view, Ji Su becomes the man who not only lied about his identity but also destroyed her date without offering any explanation. Rolling Stone

Well-intentioned? Sure. Welcome? Absolutely not. Ji Su’s dramatic rescue only made him look worse — and left Tae Seop temporarily ahead in the race.

3. She Realised the Right Guy Got Away Too Early

Tae Seop finally clarifies that his question — “Can you date with marriage in mind?” — was simply his awkward way of expressing genuine interest. It is a bittersweet realization: if Tae Seop had phrased things differently, the two might already be dating.

Miscommunication strikes again. The most heartbreaking part of this is how completely avoidable it was — one better-worded sentence and they’d have skipped four episodes of chaos.

4. Tae Seop Called Her an “Acquaintance” After They Kissed

After Ui Yeong reciprocates Tae Seop’s feelings and the two share a kiss, Tae Seop undermines the entire moment by referring to Ui Yeong as an acquaintance. Not a friend. Not a potential partner. Simply an acquaintance.

This is the kind of self-sabotage that makes you want to reach through the screen. After a kiss. An acquaintance. The man clearly needs a communication masterclass before he can be trusted with anyone’s heart.

The Practical Guide to Love understands what most romcoms don’t — that the funniest, most cringe-inducing part of modern dating isn’t the grand gestures, it’s the thousand tiny ways we miscommunicate the very things we mean most. Han Ji Min plays Ui Yeong’s frustration, warmth, and self-awareness with such grounded charm that you root for her even when she’s absolutely doing the most.
