Cabbage Your Life — Why Park Sung-woong Chose KBS2’s Most Heartwarming Drama of Spring 2026

Park Sung-woong has played gangsters, lawyers, and detectives. So when he signed on for Cabbage Your Life — a warm rural comedy about a city family accidentally stranded in a village — fans had one question: why? His answer is as honest and refreshing as the drama itself.

What Park Sung-woong Said — And Why It Matters

In his own words, Park Sung-woong quipped with typical deadpan wit that Cabbage Your Life marked his first time burying something other than a body on screen — a nod to his long career of playing intense crime-world figures. But beneath the joke lay something genuinely moving.

He explained that growing up in Cheongju gave him a distant but real connection to the countryside aesthetic, and as he read the script, the gradual emotional journey of his character — an achievement-driven man humbled and transformed by simple village relationships — resonated deeply. He admitted that during filming he would tear up thinking about the villagers, as the bonds formed on set began to mirror those in the story.

His reunion with Lee Soo-kyung, with whom he previously worked on Dog Knows Everything, already has fans excited — the two actors have an established, effortless chemistry that should make their married couple dynamic one of the drama’s most believable anchors.

The story has a satisfying dual generational arc too — while Tae-hoon battles bureaucracy and cabbages, his son Ji-cheon secretly abandons medical school and finds himself chasing love and identity in Yeonriri, adding youthful energy to what could have easily been a middle-aged nostalgia piece.

Why This Drama Could Be a Quiet Hit

Rural healing dramas — a genre built on warmth, humour, and reconnecting with what matters — have a deeply loyal fanbase in Korea. Cabbage Your Life slots perfectly into that tradition, but adds the fresh angle of a reluctant city family rather than a willing escapee, which creates far more comedic conflict and emotional stakes.

Park Sung-woong has spoken about approaching this as one of the most personally meaningful roles of his career — and that kind of investment always shows on screen. With a well-matched lead pairing and a story layered with both laughs and genuine heart, this KBS2 Thursday offering is shaping up to be one of spring 2026’s most rewatchable series.
