MSI has recently revealed yet another of its amazing Gaming monitor, and this time the product is an ultra-wide variant by the name of OPTIX MAG301RF. The gaming monitor should probably be launched in a month and will sport the price tag of US$399.
Sporting an amazing 29.5-inch panel, the OPTIX MAG301RF has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,080 pixels (WFHD), denoting that it also has a 21:9 aspect ratio. MSI calls the panel the ‘Rapid IPS’ panel and it has 1 ms (grey to grey) response times and a 200 Hz peak refresh rate.
The gaming monitor also comes with HDMI-CEC support which makes it easier to power cycle the monitor and a console simultaneously. But, the 21:9 panel, will utilize a large part of your GPU power than what a 16:9 does. As a result, you may notice lower framerates when gaming on the OPTIX MAG301RF than on a 16:9 monitor, unless you drop the graphics settings.
So, the monitor is meant purely for those gaming rigs sporting a premium graphics card. if you don’t have one, then simply upgrade it. the monitor is also fixed with NVIDIA’s G-Sync compatibility, a wide color gamut, and RGB lighting effects.
Since it’s a premium gaming monitor, it supports HDR, blue-light filtering, and a flicker-free backlight, too. According to sources, the OPTIX MAG301RF has a rotatable, tiltable, and height-adjustable stand, but MSI did not provide any specifications for those. Since a lot of information is currently unavailable about the OPTIX MAG301RF, we do not know the monitor’s peak brightness or contrast values.
