Just when Sara Arjun is still riding the wave of her Dhurandhar success, there’s fresh industry buzz that she could be stepping into one of the most iconic roles in Hindi cinema’s folklore legacy — Heer. And honestly, if the reports are true, this casting would make a lot of sense.

What Is Imtiaz Ali’s Heer Ranjha?

Announced on Valentine’s Day 2026, Heer Ranjha is a modern retelling of the timeless Punjabi folk romance that has been adapted on screen multiple times across decades. This version will be directed by Sajid Ali and produced by Imtiaz Ali and Ektaa R Kapoor, positioning it as the spiritual successor to Laila Majnu (2018). Think sweeping emotion, raw love, and that signature Imtiaz Ali heartbreak — but for a new generation.

So, Is Sara Arjun Playing Heer?

According to reports, Sara Arjun has emerged as the frontrunner for the lead role. The makers are actively looking for a relatively fresh face — someone who can carry emotional weight without the baggage of overexposure — and Sara reportedly fits that brief perfectly.

Her performance opposite Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar turned heads, and it seems those in the know took serious note of her screen presence and depth. Nothing is officially confirmed yet, but her name has consistently surfaced in casting conversations.

For the male lead, Rohit Saraf is reportedly being considered for Ranjha. The final call is expected to hinge on the on-screen chemistry between the two leads — a very Imtiaz Ali way of making casting decisions.
