Yami Gautam Watched Dhurandhar 2 — And She Was So Moved, She Couldn’t Even Read a Script Afterward

When the director’s own wife sits down to watch his film and comes out completely undone — unable to work, unable to focus, just staring at a sunset wondering how to put the experience into words — you know something extraordinary has been made. That’s exactly what happened when Yami Gautam watched Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

Dhurandhar 2 — Key Details

Yami Gautam Review That Has Bollywood Buzzing

Speaking at a News18 event, Yami Gautam offered what may be the first public review of Dhurandhar 2 — and she didn’t hold back.

“I have already watched Dhurandhar 2. It is beyond extraordinary. I was really emotional.”

But it’s what she said next that paints the most vivid picture. She had to catch a flight right after watching it and couldn’t even tell husband Aditya Dhar her feelings in the moment. By the time she landed, she was still processing.

“I had to read a script, but I couldn’t; I had to watch something, but I couldn’t. I was just watching the beautiful sunset outside and wondering what I would tell Aditya when the flight lands.”

That’s not a PR statement. That’s a woman genuinely shaken by what she experienced — and that emotional truth is what makes this moment so compelling for audiences already counting down to March 19.

A Wife’s Pride, A Filmmaker’s Legacy

The love and admiration Yami carries for Aditya Dhar’s work was evident in every word. She credited his dedication to both his craft and his audience with unapologetic pride.

“Aditya loves his audience and the country, and he has given his life’s effort to make this film. Dhurandhar 2 will be an experience that the audience will never forget.”

For context — Aditya Dhar previously directed URI: The Surgical Strike (2019), which rewrote the rules of what a patriotic Indian film could achieve at the box office. Dhurandhar 2, with Ranveer Singh in full intensity mode and a stellar ensemble including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and rumoured villain Emraan Hashmi — is being positioned as his most ambitious project yet.

The ₹245 Crore Signal and the Box Office Battle

The ₹245 crore non-theatrical deal that Dhurandhar 2 reportedly secured is one of the biggest in recent Bollywood history — a signal that the industry itself has enormous faith in this film’s commercial reach.

Its March 19 release, however, puts it directly against Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups — featuring Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, and Tara Sutaria. A clash of this scale, with two mass entertainers opening the same day, is the kind of box office battle that defines a year.
