What Is Paathirathri About?
Picture this: two police officers who genuinely can’t stand each other — forced together on night patrol duty. That’s the tense, crackling premise of Paathirathri (which translates to “midnight” in Malayalam).
During one of their patrols, they witness a crime. They fail to report it in time. Now both officers are implicated, and the only way out is to investigate together — uncovering a dangerous truth that threatens not just their careers, but their personal lives and very existence. As the tension of the investigation mounts, the film also peels back the personal demons each officer carries quietly within themselves.
It’s a taut, character-driven night thriller with just the right amount of pressure in every frame.
The Director & A-List Ensemble
Paathirathri marks only the second directorial venture of Ratheena PT, whose debut was the acclaimed Puzhu (2022), which starred Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu. That’s a strong creative pedigree to build from.
The supporting cast is equally stacked — Sunny Wayne, Ann Augustine, Athmiya Rajan, Achyuth Kumar, Indrans, Harisree Ashokan, and Aadukalam Naren all appear in key roles, making this one ensemble-heavy watch. ZEE5 Malayalam announced the premiere excitedly, calling it “the night that stays with you” — and honestly, that’s a tagline you don’t forget easily.
