Just when you thought Dhurandhar’s box office run was its final act, Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller dropped another bombshell. Within one week of its Netflix debut, the Aditya Dhar directorial has crushed every OTT record imaginable—leaving Animal, Jawan, and even Pushpa 2 in the dust.
Dhurandhar’s Netflix Domination: The Numbers Don’t Lie

The spy action entertainer didn’t just beat the competition—it obliterated it. With 7.6 million views in its opening week, Dhurandhar surpassed Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal by a whopping 1.4 million views, making it the highest-viewed Indian film debut on Netflix.
Breaking Down the Top 10 OTT Debuts

1. Dhurandhar – 7.6M views
2. Animal – 6.2M views
3. Jawan – 6.0M views (all languages)

Why Dhurandhar Dominated Streaming
The Perfect Storm:
- Theatrical Buzz: Massive box office success created pent-up demand
- Star Power: Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal
- Sequel Hype: Dhurandhar: The Revenge teaser dropped simultaneously, driving curiosity
- Uncut Version: No edits or cuts from theatrical release, per sources
The film’s gripping narrative follows Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer Singh), a spy recruited for Project Dhurandhar who infiltrates Pakistan’s Karachi underworld. His undercover mission involves becoming a gangster to dismantle terror networks—culminating in a major revenge operation against an ISI mastermind.
According to IMDb, Dhurandhar marks director Aditya Dhar’s second collaboration with the spy-thriller genre after Uri: The Surgical Strike, which also became a cultural phenomenon.
What’s Next? Dhurandhar 2 on the Horizon
The sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, hits theaters on March 19, 2026, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. With the first film’s OTT dominance, expectations for the sequel have skyrocketed.
