What Actually Happens in the Ending?

After wandering aimlessly following roars across the wilderness, Zombie Spear ventures into mountain ruins where he believes Fang awaits. Instead, he faces a vicious pride of ancient lions. During the brutal confrontation, he falls through broken floors into an underground lake—drowning the lions while he survives unscathed.

The episode’s climax features an epic showdown with a massive alpha lion. Just when defeat seems certain, Zombie Spear spots a spear in a skeleton’s hand. This triggers vivid memories of his human past, and he expertly wields the weapon to kill the alpha by stabbing it through the mouth.

However, another distant roar reignites his quest. The episode ends with Zombie Spear abandoning the leaderless lion pride and continuing his search for Fang across the prehistoric world.

Zombie Spear Is Slowly Recovering His Humanity

The most significant development in Kingdom of Sorrow isn’t the brutal battles—it’s Zombie Spear’s gradual mental recovery. Throughout the episode, flashbacks reveal fragments of his past life: memories of wielding weapons, fighting alongside Fang, and his former human strength.

When he picks up the spear during the lion battle, muscle memory takes over. This suggests that while Zombie Spear may be undead, his consciousness and combat skills are slowly returning. Each roar he follows doesn’t just guide him physically—it awakens deeper memories of his bond with Fang.
