“Wait, Jihyo Was There?”: TWICE Leader’s Secret Golden Globes Appearance Sparks JYP Backlash

In a moment that should have been celebrated worldwide, TWICE leader Jihyo attended the prestigious 2026 Golden Globes on January 11—yet most fans didn’t discover this until after the event through Moët & Chandon’s social media. While BLACKPINK’s Lisa and SEVENTEEN’s Joshua had their appearances officially announced by agencies beforehand, JYP Entertainment’s complete silence on Jihyo’s Hollywood milestone has reignited heated debates about the company’s alleged mismanagement of TWICE’s solo careers and promotional opportunities.

Jihyo’s Golden Globes Appearance: Key Details

The Promotional Silence That Shocked ONCEs

The 28-year-old K-pop idol and TWICE leader attended Hollywood’s most prestigious awards ceremony as a guest of Moët & Chandon, the luxury winery under Louis Vuitton’s corporate umbrella. This marked a significant achievement—attending the Golden Globes represents international recognition and invaluable exposure for any artist’s brand. Yet JYP Entertainment made zero announcements before or during the event.

Fans only learned of Jihyo’s attendance through Getty Images photos and Moët & Chandon’s promotional content shared after the ceremony concluded. The stark contrast became impossible to ignore when comparing how other agencies handled their artists’ appearances. BLACKPINK’s Lisa and SEVENTEEN’s Joshua both received official announcements and media coverage before walking the red carpet, ensuring maximum visibility and fan engagement.

Why Fans Are Calling Out JYP Entertainment

The backlash centers on a pattern fans have documented for years. Many ONCEs (TWICE’s fandom) argue that JYP Entertainment consistently under-promotes TWICE members’ individual achievements, particularly their solo activities. This alleged mismanagement becomes especially frustrating given TWICE’s status as one of the most successful girl groups in K-pop history, having recently renewed contracts with JYP for the second time.

Social media exploded with criticism as fans questioned the company’s decision-making. “I literally thought ONCEs were pranking again… only to realize it was fr. Why was there no announcement regarding her attendance?” one fan wrote, capturing the community’s confusion and disappointment. Others pointed to this incident as evidence of JYP’s alleged pattern of restricting TWICE members’ solo promotional opportunities—a practice fans claim sabotages their individual career growth.

The timing makes this particularly significant. Jihyo released her solo EP Zone in August 2023, which debuted at #1 on Korea’s Circle Album Chart and #14 on the US Billboard 200, selling over 584,000 copies in its first week. She also contributed vocals to Netflix’s hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters alongside members Jeongyeon and Chaeyoung. These achievements demonstrate her individual star power—yet her Golden Globes appearance, which could amplify international recognition, received no agency support.

TWICE’s Recent Achievements Despite Agency Silence

Despite the promotional controversies, TWICE continues thriving. Members Nayeon, Jihyo, Momo, and Tzuyu headlined the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2025, while the group celebrated their 10th anniversary with the documentary film One in a Mill10n in October. Jihyo herself earned nominations for Best Dance Performance (Female Solo) and Best Female Artist at the 2023 MAMA Awards after her solo debut.

The group recently renewed their exclusive contracts with JYP Entertainment for a second term—a decision that now faces scrutiny from fans who question whether the agency truly supports individual members’ global ambitions beyond group activities.
